It was great to see Gala day back in full action after a pause in 2020.
Our AusKick future stars had a ball playing against teams from the Claremont district. The day started with our PPs kicking off from 8:30 and finishing off with our 2s around 2pm. Players got a chance to show off their skills they have been learning throughout the year which really shone through on the day. Thanks to everyone who made it down and the team coaches who supported the teams on the day.

Our second DNJFC Collegians cup was again a massive night for all AusKickers from Dalkeith Nedlands, Mosman Park and Cottesloe. Our future footy stars had a chance to show their wares with 2 or 3 friendly games at David Cruickshank Oval in Dalkeith. The was footy, there were spills, there were goals and most of all fun and laughter for all. For those who haven't experienced what the cup is like to video below is a 360 degree view of the games and fun in action! With all the fun we were also fortunate to have Kathy and Sam come down from WA footy to join in the festivities. We also had a fantasitc sponsors from Ray White Dalkeith Claremont and Porsche come down to present the trophies to the respective clubs and for the second year running provide a Porsche on the oval!
The night finished up with the presentations to the junior clubs by the Collegians President Brad, families hainvg a tasty meal from the Collegians chef Ed and his team, parents enjoying the bar facilities and of course the players jumping in to pizza after their hard work. The 2021 DNJFC Collegians cup is locked in to start from 4:30pm on Friday 23rd July at David Cruickshank Reserve Dalkeith. This year's installment will again see AusKick teams from Dalkeith Nedlands, Mosman Park and Cottesloe play off in a round robin style of games. Co-hosted by Dalkeith Nedlands Junior and the Collegians Amateur Football clubs this annual highlight again is set for a must attend event. Families can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere with the Bar open and hot food menu to choose from. Players after their hard work will enjoy pizza for free! The file below is the schedule for the evening - it's going to be awesome!
The adults only DNJFC 80s party and fundraiser was a rockin affair for the parents and friends of the club.
With local band Oats Supply rockin out 80s tunes all night the night was a blast from start to finish. We also had so many generous donors who contributed to our silent auctions and raffles over the evening which made the event a huge success for all. Special thanks to donations from our new Mayor Fiona Argyle, Brian Leedman, West Coast Eagles, Richard Tucker from KordaMentha and Rob Brauer from McGrath Nicol all contributing to our major items on the evening. The clock is already ticking to next years event as it will be a must attend event for all!
We then jumped back on the buses with Ben leading us all to the WACA where we joined 6,000 West Australians on the Long Walk to Optus stadium. This walk is one of great importance and has a long history in Melbourne and occurs each year prior to the Dreamtime at the G game. We then enjoyed a thrilling game at Optus where Essendon challenged in the final term only to have Richmond run away clear winners. It was a highlight to all who attended. Sunday and the big game was upon us. With some rain about it started off with a few warm ups and the important kids vs parents game. A few highlights were on show but as usual the kid prevailed with the parents failing to kick a goal in the wet conditions. Then we headed to the big game and got underway. The first quarter honors were with Dalkeith Nedlands but there after it was one way traffic with Wiluna running out comfortable winners Wiluna - 11.11 77 def DN 6.9 45 turning the tables from the 2020 encounter. Half time saw the longest kick and sprint competitions. The first kick had the win with other competitors trying torps which failed to deliver. We also had channel 7 news come down and film the game with Adrian Barrich giving the event a great plug as part of his sports report - fun fact his son participated in a past Wiluna game which shows its long and proud history. It was then time to reflect on the game and celebrate those who demonstrated great skill and great spirit.
The game is the main highlight on both team's calendars each year and the spirit of how the game was played was just awesome seeing kids as young as 6 or 7 challenging 15/16 year olds and everyone looking out for each other. Well done to all who participated and cant wait to come up to Wiluna next year. Calling Parents of DNJFC! Saturday May 29 was a day to remember for the Dakeith Nedlands AusKickers in 2021.
The day started with assembling the massive contingent of 48 Auskickers, 16 on-field volunteers and many parents, family and friends who were all on-hand to be part of a truly special occasion. We were then taken to get ready in the Docker's rooms and get ready for the big time. Then the siren sounded and we knew it was time. Out we came and put our best footy skills on show in front of a packed stadium and some very enthusiastic parents! Kids dodged, weaved, showed slick hands, precision kicking and important snagged a few goals on the hallowed turf of Optus stadium. Sunday the 18th of April kick start our 2021 AusKick in style. We welcomed both old and new faces to what looks to be an even better installment in 2021. The weather turned on a treat with those stylish DNJFC hats out in force for the morning. Teams all kicked off with a quick warm up, some fun activities and then a match against the parents. I think its fair to say the parents need a bit of work if they are going to compete with this footy stars this year! Great to see so many smiles which as is the norm enjoyed some tug-o-war and BBQ with a drink at the end. Next week's a bye with the Anzac day long weekend - see you back on the 2nd of May! It's your local footy club and everyone's invited! |
