There are a number of new and exciting additions we will be adding to our award winning programs in 2022. Curios - well watch for registration opening shortly and jump on board for an even bigger 2022! On Saturday 16th of October, the team from Dalkeith Nedlands Junior Football club arrived at WA's home of footy, Optus Oval for WA football's annual awards ceremony. As we reflected on the amazing season that was, we also were quietly hoping we would go one better in 2021 and take out AusKick program of the year. In 2020, we re-shaped the program with many new events. These included super coach sessions, AusKick DNJFC Collegians cup, music and events on Sundays and our transition to junior footy program for our year 2s. These innovations really paid dividends with increased numbers but importantly started building a very strong club and community feel. These enhancements were recognised as we were a finalist for AusKick program of the year in 2020. Emboldened by the success of 2020 the committee and wider club embarked on some changes and additions in 2021 to make it even better. The move to David Cruickshank and closer ties to Collegians football club started us off in a manner that positioned us for an even better 2021. Open day was a lot of fun, mothers day super coach, and many other highlights such as half time at Optus - West Coast v Essendon and the Wiluna culturual weekend that featured on Channel 7's sports report that included the Long walk against racism and attending Dreamtime at Optus to name a few. For the parents we even had a 80s night that rocked out to Oats supply at our new home at David Cruickshank's Adam Armstrong pavilion. These plus the 2020 improvements took to program to the next level and saw a 50% increase on 2019s numbers something we are all proud of. These enhancements and our continued club and community feel were recognised as the #1 AusKick program of the year in 2021. Thank you to all of the committee, coaches, parents and kids who were part of this special year. We are proud at Dalkeith Nedlands, where "It's local footy club, and everyone's invited!" See you in 2022! What an awesome finish to a truely memorable season! The kids from all our teams gathered last friday night to celebrate another super season at Dalkeith Nedlands. The evening started with our future footy stars from PP to year 6 each having their moment in the sun receiving their well earned trophies and team photos. We had our very special sponsors from Ray White Dalkeith Claremont represented by Vivian, Thomas and Laura and Retail Return represented by Neil come down to present and continue to show why they are very important members of our club's community. This was followed by dinner for the kids and parents (and a few top ups from the bar) where we entered in to the pinnacle of the evening - Best and Fairest presentations. This year saw awards for our year 2, 3, 4 and 6 teams for coaches award, runner up best and fairest and best and fairest. Well done to all the recipients of these trophies on stellar seasons. Then to round the night out in true DNJFC style we put the oval lights on, gots some footies out and we all enjoyed a drink from our bar hosted by our friends at Collegians. It was also an opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers who have all played a huge part in making 2021 the success it has been. Bring on 2022! Another super evening run by our super coach Simon Nimmo.
Seeing the drills set up by Simon and our DNJFC coaches was great to see. Kids from PP through to year 6 enjoyed another coaching clinic which was well supported by Collegians players coming down. It really is a special experience to enjoy learning footy from our top level coach with senior players mixing with all the kids. And to finish it all off with a kids v collegians was awesome to see them all get right in to it together. Finishing the night off, kids enjoyed pizza, parents enjoyed the bar and Chef Ed out did himself this time with Oysters kilpatrick on the menu - Yum! It was great to see Gala day back in full action after a pause in 2020.
Our AusKick future stars had a ball playing against teams from the Claremont district. The day started with our PPs kicking off from 8:30 and finishing off with our 2s around 2pm. Players got a chance to show off their skills they have been learning throughout the year which really shone through on the day. Thanks to everyone who made it down and the team coaches who supported the teams on the day. Our second DNJFC Collegians cup was again a massive night for all AusKickers from Dalkeith Nedlands, Mosman Park and Cottesloe. Our future footy stars had a chance to show their wares with 2 or 3 friendly games at David Cruickshank Oval in Dalkeith. The was footy, there were spills, there were goals and most of all fun and laughter for all. For those who haven't experienced what the cup is like to video below is a 360 degree view of the games and fun in action! With all the fun we were also fortunate to have Kathy and Sam come down from WA footy to join in the festivities. We also had a fantasitc sponsors from Ray White Dalkeith Claremont and Porsche come down to present the trophies to the respective clubs and for the second year running provide a Porsche on the oval!
The night finished up with the presentations to the junior clubs by the Collegians President Brad, families hainvg a tasty meal from the Collegians chef Ed and his team, parents enjoying the bar facilities and of course the players jumping in to pizza after their hard work. The 2021 DNJFC Collegians cup is locked in to start from 4:30pm on Friday 23rd July at David Cruickshank Reserve Dalkeith. This year's installment will again see AusKick teams from Dalkeith Nedlands, Mosman Park and Cottesloe play off in a round robin style of games. Co-hosted by Dalkeith Nedlands Junior and the Collegians Amateur Football clubs this annual highlight again is set for a must attend event. Families can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere with the Bar open and hot food menu to choose from. Players after their hard work will enjoy pizza for free! The adults only DNJFC 80s party and fundraiser was a rockin affair for the parents and friends of the club.
With local band Oats Supply rockin out 80s tunes all night the night was a blast from start to finish. We also had so many generous donors who contributed to our silent auctions and raffles over the evening which made the event a huge success for all. Special thanks to donations from our new Mayor Fiona Argyle, Brian Leedman, West Coast Eagles, Richard Tucker from KordaMentha and Rob Brauer from McGrath Nicol all contributing to our major items on the evening. The clock is already ticking to next years event as it will be a must attend event for all! |
