Lights, music - lets go!

This June the parents and Friends of DNJFC rocked away to our annual 80s night fundraiser.

​Rocking out to the tunes of legendary band Oats Supply, parents enjoyed another great night at our home of footy - Adam Armstrong Pavilion.

Many thanks to our generous donors for the silent auctions and prizes throughout the night. This is what sets the club up for success in 2022 and beyond.

Collegians as always provided great support by running the bar with Ed our resident chef ensuring we were all well fed during the event.

The 14th annual Wiluna Cultural weekend exceeded expectations yet again - it just keeps getting better! With the 2022 instalment, the Wiluna Martu eagles played host to Dalkeith Nedlands to what was an action packed long weekend for all.

We all started bright and early on Friday morning ready for the bus. With our club and Essendon Legend - Ben Doolan (aka Dools) at the wheel we were off on our way to Mount Magnet.

After a few stops for essentials such as coffee for the parents and a bakery breakfast in Bindoon we were off on the adventure. 

On arrival at Mount Magnet, it was a quick stop at the Caravan Park to set up our tents (some quickly others, well.....) and then head to the ground for Friday night footy against the Mount Magnet team. 

It was close for most of the game with a kick in it at 3 quarter time, but the Mount Magnet team had the legs and pressed home with a flurry of goals in the final term. Was it the bus ride, was it the bus snacks, some even suggested it was an assistant coach heading for a early dinner but the winner here was footy and a fine evening had by all.

Next morning, a quick pack of the tents and we were off on our way to Wiluna. There were a couple of extended stops on the way which allowed the kids to explore the outback and stretch their legs on the way.

Once we arrived in Wiluna, it was off to the Rec centre to jump in to get to know you activities. This is a tradition that happens each year which Darren reflected has had some interesting answers over the years from the kids. Kids and adults alike were then presented with their Wiluna Hoodies which added to the togetherness of the weekend.

Then it was time for dinner and the parents to head to the Gallery for wine and cheese and meet the artist, whilst the kids enjoyed a disco dance and fun with their Wiluna friends.

After some fun it was time to head to the Rosslyn Hill camp for the night.

We awoke on Sunday, ready and pumped for the big game.

First, however, it was time to head to North Pool to get back to nature and immerse in some true cultural experiences. The Wiluna and Dalkeith Nedlands kids enjoyed playing around the pool, a few braved the cold and went for a dip and then dried off around the fire.

The Dalkeith Nedlands kids were shown how to go fishing for yabbies, a long neck turtle or "barry" as he was affectionately named was rescued and returned to the water and it was then time to cook the roo tail in the fire.

On return to the rec centre we were further treated to try honey ants which are true bush lollies - yum!

Now its time for the big event - the Wiluna v Dalkeith Nedlands game.

Expectations were high and smiles at an all time high and we were ready to go.

Dalkeith Nedlands was off to a flyer with a lead of a few goals at qtr time. Then a few personnel changes later, it was back to square at the half and a slight lead to Wiluna at the final change. From here Wiluna went up a gear and powered away to win by a few goals in the end but overall was another amazing installment in its 14th year. 

We are had the traditional longest kick and fastest sprinter which were a clean sweep for the Wiluna team.

It was then time to celebrate the best on ground and the spirit of martu and Preston Bridge memorial wards for those who showed the true spirit across the weekend. 

From there is was dinner, a trip back to the camp, sleep and a bus ride back to Perth on the Monday to cap an amazing weekend.

Another great night at the annual Mother's day Super Coach was had by all.

Our DNJFC coaches along with a number of senior Collegians players were involved in fun activities with our DNJFC future footy stars.

The games at the end of AusKickers v parents and Junior footy v Collegians were a great way to showcase the skills learnt and to have some fun.

The activities were follow up with Pizza for the kids, yummy food by Ed the Collegians chef and the ever popular bar for the parents ensuring a great night to see old friends and welcome new families to our club.

We also had representatives from the Ukraine community come down and provide a real life account of what is happening and provide way in which we can support their community in these very difficult times.

2022 is now off with the first 5 week's fixtures now released.

Wow - what a day!

It was so great to see our community again out and about for our open day 2022. 

The weather put on a treat with parents and kids alike enjoying the free food and activities over the afternoon. 

Kids enjoyed the bouncy jungle gym with hot competition for the longest kick again in 2022.

Our expert partners from game guardian were onsite helping our budding afl future stars get fitted for mouthguards.

Overall there were old faces, new faces and importantly many smiles on what was a great start to 2022.

We have our annual open day coming up in a few weeks’ time on Sunday 13th March from 3-5pm at David Cruickshank reserve, Dalkeith.

On Wednesday 17th of November we held our Annual General Meeting for the 2021 year. 

The meeting was a time to reflect on our amazing 2021 and to thank the committee and volunteers who were integral to our success this year.

It was also time to nominate the team for the 2022 season who will build on our past year's achievements.

The roles on the committee in 2022 are:

With the new committee appointed, it was time to thank Andrew (Registrar 2020 & 2021) and Joel (Secretary 2021) as departing committee members whos contributions were invaluable to the recent seasons success. We also welcome Pete and Martin as new committee members in 2022.

​We would like to thanks those returning to roles and welcome Ben, Rob and Paul to the extended committee.

There are a number of new and exciting additions we will be adding to our award winning programs in 2022. Curios - well watch for registration opening shortly and jump on board for an even bigger 2022!

On Saturday 16th of October, the team from Dalkeith Nedlands Junior Football club arrived at WA's home of footy, Optus Oval for WA football's annual awards ceremony.

As we reflected on the amazing season that was, we also were quietly hoping we would go one better in 2021 and take out AusKick program of the year.

In 2020, we re-shaped the program with many new events. These included super coach sessions, AusKick DNJFC Collegians cup, music and events on Sundays and our transition to junior footy program for our year 2s. These innovations really paid dividends with increased numbers but importantly started building a very strong club and community feel. These enhancements were recognised as we were a finalist for AusKick program of the year in 2020.

What an awesome finish to a truely memorable season!

The kids from all our teams gathered last friday night to celebrate another super season at Dalkeith Nedlands.

The evening started with our future footy stars from PP to year 6 each having their moment in the sun receiving their well earned trophies and team photos.

We had our very special sponsors from Ray White Dalkeith Claremont represented by Vivian, Thomas and Laura and Retail Return represented by Neil come down to present and continue to show why they are very important members of our club's community.

This was followed by dinner for the kids and parents (and a few top ups from the bar) where we entered in to the pinnacle of the evening - Best and Fairest presentations.

This year saw awards for our year 2, 3, 4 and 6 teams for coaches award, runner up best and fairest and best and fairest. Well done to all the recipients of these trophies on stellar seasons.

Then to round the night out in true DNJFC style we put the oval lights on, gots some footies out and we all enjoyed a drink from our bar hosted by our friends at Collegians.

It was also an opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers who have all played a huge part in making 2021 the success it has been.
